Information For Accepted Students

This section outlines the process for accepted students from the moment they are notified about their acceptance via the Applicant Portal up to their actual arrival to CEU.

Step 1: acceptance offer

Once the admissions decisions are for accepted students become available, they will be posted on the Applicant Portal, and the CEU Admissions Office starts sending out acceptance offers to all accepted student via electronic mail. In light of the large volume and resulting processing time, do not not worry if your acceptance decision and offer are not available on or shortly after April 3, 2017.
Once you receive the offer, please read it carefully, as it stipulates terms and conditions of the study offer including financial aid awarded, program length, required fees, etc. If you accept the terms, please return the last (signatory) page of the offer signed and dated.
Please not that the acceptance offer cannot be used for visa application purposes. The CEU Admissions Office issues a separate document ("Confirmation of Acceptance") to those students who require a visa to enter Hungary (see also Step 3).

Step 2: General Deposit

The General Deposit is payable by all students accepted to CEU in order to confirm their acceptance of the study offer. The signed Acceptance Offer in itself is not sufficient to confirm acceptance. The General Deposit must be paid online at the CEU Payment Gateway.
For students who have confirmed their place of study but do not enroll after all, the General Deposit is non-refundable. For students who enroll, the General Deposit serves as a damage deposit for the length of study at CEU, and will be refunded shortly before departure as part of the leaving procedure, less any damage costs assessed or fees outstanding on the student's account.
Please pay the General Deposit as soon as possible, especially if you need to apply for a visa. Visa letters ("Confirmation of Acceptance for Visa Purposes") are only issued upon receipt of the deposit payment.

Step 3: Visa Application (for non-eu/eea citizens)

Students who are citizens of countries that are not part of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) need to apply for a long-term D type visa for study purposes at the Hungarian consulate of their country of residence. The CEU Admissions Office provides a "Confirmation of Acceptance" for visa purposes. For further information read our detailed guidelines.

Citizens of EU/EEA member states may travel to Hungary without a long-term study visa. However they need to obtain a registration card for the duration of the studies in Hungary. For more information please visit the relevant section of the CEU Online Orientation.

Step 4: Academic Records & Standard language test scores

In order to be able to enroll and start their studies at CEU, accepted students must submit their academic documents to the CEU Admissions Office no later than August 15, 2017, via postal mail or in person (mailing address: CEU Admissions Office, Nador u. 9, 1051 Budapest, Hungary).
