On March 2, 2012 the USU Eastern Golden Eagles played the first game of what would be the closing week of their 2011-12 season. The visitors were the Golden Eagles from the College of Southern Idaho. In the first half both teams had a tough time shooting the ball but CSI got the better half shooting 40 percent while USU Eastern shot only 32, but luckily they only found themselves down by three heading into the locker room at halftime, 31-28. The second half proved to be a little better for Eastern as they shot 38 percent from the field while CSI shot 39 percent. The killer for USU Eastern was their work at the foul  line. For the game they shot 24 for 35 ending with 68 percent. When the final buzzer sounded the Golden Eagles from USU Eastern found themselves on the losing side, 70-69.
USU Eastern was led by Dashaun Wiggins who had 21 points. Neveij Walters contributed 17 points along with 16 rebounds.     The following day, March 3, the team once again took the court in the Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center to play the Northern Idaho Cardinals. Both the Golden Eagles and the Cardinals shot well from the floor in the first half with Eastern shooting 43 percent and NIC shooting 48 percent. Once again the Golden Eagles found themselves with a 3-point deficit at half-time, 44-41. Theteam came out with energy  in the second half, created turnovers and played in control but as has been the case all season in the closing minutes NIC played well forcing overtime. In overtime Eastern hit only one basket and two free throws, while NIC hit one 3-pointer and got an easy lay-up. The final score was 80-79.      The Golden Eagles had five players with double digit scoring  and were led by Chase Flint who had 21 points and 5 assists. Neveij Walters once again had a good game scoring 10 and bringing down 12 rebounds.       With no post-season play for USU Eastern they finish the season with a record of 4-11 in region play and 16-13 overall.
