On March 2, 2012 the Lady Eagles of USU Eastern hosted the Golden Eagles from the College of Southern Idaho. Starting that night as the fifth seed in the Scenic West Athletic Conference the Lady Eagles needed to run the table and get some help to get a better seed with the Region tournament coming up. The Lady Eagles played a difficult but controlled and decent first half, shooting only 28 percent but keeping the game in check keeping CSI to 28 percent from the field, heading into halftime the score was 26-20 for CSI. In the second half the Lady Eagles proved why they have the greatest defense in the SWAC only allowing CSI to hit 30 percent of their shots while USU Eastern hit 38 percent. At the end of the game USU Eastern found themselves on top 59-56.
Priscila Santos had 20 points leading the team. Caitlin Nelson had 8 points and had 12 rebounds before leaving the game with an injured knee. Hailee Perry also had 11 points and 3 assists.
The following day, march 3, the Lady Eagles played host to the Northern Idaho College Cardinals who are the defending National Champions and first place team in the SWAC. To get the third seed in the region tornament Eastern needed to beat NIC and needed Colorado Northwestern Community College to upset CSI. The Lady Eagles shot 50 percent from the field in the first half while holding NIC to only 46 percent, heading into half time with a one-point lead 35-34. Coming into the second half the Lady Eagles once again controlled the game and played their game and controlled the tempo. The Lady Eagles once again dominated the scoreboard shooting 52 percent to NIC's 40 percent. At the end of the game Eastern had the advantage 78-68.
Santos once again led the offensive attack with 40 points hitting 13-24 from the field and 14-16 from the charity stripe. Perry was the second leading scorer contributing 20 and Amy Arbon finished the regular season strong with 10 points, 7 rebonds and 4 assists. The Lady Eagles did get the help they needed with CNCC beating CSI in Rangely Colorado. The Lady Eagles finish the season with a region record of 8-7 and an oveall record 16-14.
