Women's Basketball – North and Southern Idaho here this Weekend

Feb. 5th - The home team has a great start and by the first media break CEU hangs on to a small four point lead, CEU 13 CSI 9. CSI flexed their muscles as they stormed back and by the second media break CSI stretches out to a double digit lead, CEU 16 CSI 30. Half Time score CEU 28 CSI 42, EU’s Kaylie Robison 8 points 4/6 shooting, no free throws for home team CSI 9/12 free throws. Second half saw CEU battling to cut into the lead and at times looking as though they were going to make it close. CSI had an answer to all CEU’s runs. At the 7:27 mark CEU 47 CSI 69. FINAL SCORE EU 65 CSI 86 EU’s Kaylie Robison continues to play well as she fought hard inside the paint on her way to scoring 27 points (13/20), and grabbing 6 rebounds. Bruna Deichmann also working hard slicing to the basket and making shots off her pull up jumper scores 11 points. Libby Alon and McKenda Hill score 7 points each. Savana Gines coming off the bench pushed the ball well on early offense and was able to dish out 8 assists. CEU did get free throws in the second half and made the best of it as they go 8/10 from the line.

Feb. 6th - There would be no argument that this conference has some of the better players in the junior college system. CEU is very lucky to have one of them playing here in the post position. Every game Kaylie Robison while on offense has to endure defensive double teams and then turnaround on the other end of the court and defend some of the conference’s best players. This weekend the sophomore from Sandy, Utah in two games shot 15/40 for 62.5% and grab 20 rebounds. She scored 27 points against CSI and against NIC followed it up with 29 points. This game CEU stays close as the first media break starts the home team is only down 4 points, CEU 09 NIC 13. At the second media break the first place cardinal team extends their lead to 8 points, CEU 20 NIC 28. Half Time score CEU 33 NCI 43. The second half both teams played evenly and as the game winds down to 40 seconds left on the clock CEU cuts the lead to just 6 points forcing NIC to call multiple time outs. The comeback falls short as NIC makes free throws and holds CEU back. Bruna Deichmann scores 14 points including 6-6 from the free throw line. When Robison was resting Maddie Hind stepped in and scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The point guards combined dished out 11 assists as Libby Alon scores 7 points with her 5 assists and Savana Gines collects the other 6. The team shoots 81.8% free throws keeping the game close. FINAL SCORE CEU 69 NIC 80
