The Human RightS Initiative (HRSI) is happy to announce the opening of the application period for a one–day intensive workshop on Fundraising for NGOs to be held at CEU on Saturday (10 am – 6 pm), December 1 2012.
This workshop is part of HRSI’s Capacity Building Program, aimed at providing students with practical skills needed to work in the not–for–profit sector.
The workshop is designed for people who are interested in working for the not-for-profit sector and will concentrate on practical techniques for successful fundraising. Following an introduction to the subject, the trainer will discuss the components of a successful funding strategy. The workshop will then look at potential funding sources and how to maximize the success of applications. The session will end with a look at funder reporting. Throughout the workshop, participants will be encouraged to look at practical examples, and participants are encouraged to bring details of their own fundraising projects if possible.
The workshop will be facilitated by Ailsa Spindler. Ailsa is currently the Development Manager at the European Roma Rights Centre. She graduated with a BSc in Rural Environment Studies in 1977. Most of her career has been as a manager in the not-for-profit sector, including working as Executive Director of ILGA-Europe, Director (Scotland) of the Terrence Higgins Trust, and Chief Executive of Surrey Wildlife Trust. While working in Brussels she also chaired the Social Platform’s Discrimination Working Group. Ailsa’s experience includes significant fundraising to ensure the on-going viability of the organisations for which she has worked. She joined the ERRC in July 2012.
