Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students (DoS) is the chief student affairs officer and reports directly to the University Provost. Responsible for providing vision to CEU’s division of student affairs, the Dean develops and supervises programs making it possible for students to realize their intellectual and personal potential, and for integrating student life experience with CEU’s mission. The Dean provides leadership in administering a comprehensive range of programs and services related to: residence center programming and planning; creating a campus culture that promotes academic achievement and personal development; providing support for the physical and mental health of students; assisting in crisis response and institutional initiatives; advising students on a variety of issues related to their academic and non-academic life in Budapest; fosters collaborative relationships among students, faculty, and staff.
The Dean works with a diverse student body and represents their interests. He ensures a mutually reinforcing relationship between the academic and non-academic areas of CEU and plays a central role in defining a strong sense of community that unites students, faculty, and staff across differences of racial and ethnic background, gender, class, and educational background. The Dean is a key member of the Provost’s staff, and is involved in formulating CEU policies, including budget allocation and long-term planning.
