The Center for Academic Writing assists students in becoming self-reflective critical writers, capable of producing and applying knowledge in ways that reflect the values of open and inclusive societies enshrined in the founding mission of CEU. It achieves this by utilizing a progressive teaching pedagogy that is student centered, focused on group and individual work, and passionate about the transformative potential of education.
Most specifically, it equips students, regardless of background and level of prior education, with a framework to develop specific academic writing skills that are not only necessary for the production and mastery of texts required within a given degree program but also highly beneficial throughout life. Through all its activities, it seeks to play a crucial role within the academic life of the CEU community, both within and beyond the walls of the campus.
The Center for Academic Writing is one of the leading writing centers in Europe, awarded the "Writing Program of Excellence" certificate by the Conference on College Composition and Communication in 2004.
