Szakkollegium

CEU offers an exceptional opportunity to Hungarian students who are members of Colleges for Advanced Studies ("Szakkollegium") enabling them to visit courses at CEU. These students are encouraged to join and experience the unique CEU learning environment by choosing one or more courses of interest that they actively participate in, passing exams and course requirements. At the end of their studies at CEU, they obtain a transcript listing the courses completed and credits obtained. They may take up to 12 CEU credits (= 24 ECTS) within a 2-year study period.

Acceptance depends on the student's English proficiency and the space availability of the given course.

There are two application deadlines throughout the academic year:

  • May 15 for the fall trimester
  • October 31 for the winter and spring trimester

Please check the following site on how to apply:

Please submit your applicaiton a month before the trimester/course starts.

Summer University Program

The CEU Summer University program (SUN) also welcomes applications from students of Colleges for Advanced Studies ("Szakkollegium") for its short, one – or two-week long intensive courses held in June-July.

Brief program description

A team of internationally renowned scholars and policy experts (including CEU professors) from various fields of social sciences and humanities teach the CEU summer courses. Participants include a mix of graduate students, postdocs, junior faculty, early-stage researchers, and practitioners from all over the world. All courses are conducted in English, therefore strong English language skills are a pre-condition of participation.

Upon successful completion of the course, we award participants a Certificate of Attendance and, depending on the course length, 1-3 ECTS credits.

If admitted, students of Colleges for Advanced Studies will receive tuition waiver.

Application

The first general application deadline is February 14. After this deadline expires, we’ll publish possible extensions and late application policy on the website and the relevant course web pages.

Please indicate in the Statement of Purpose and /or in your educational records of the online application form that you are a student of a College for Advanced Studies ("Szakkollegium").

Once you have submitted your application, please send an email to the Summer University Office so that we can keep track of applications coming from any of the relevant institutions.
