Information For Accepted Students

This section outlines the process for accepted candidates from the moment they are notified about their acceptance via the Applicant Portal up to their actual arrival to CEU.


Admissions decisions are published on the Applicant Portal.
Acceptance Offers are published in the Applicant Portal. Once you receive an offer, please make sure to read it carefully, as it stipulates terms and conditions of the study offer, including program length, required fees, required documents you need to submit, etc.
You then have the option to either accept the offer or decline it ("Respond to Offer").

Please note: The Acceptance Offer cannot be used for visa application purposes. The CEU Admissions Office issues a separate document ("Confirmation of Acceptance") to those students who require a visa to enter Hungary (see also Step 3).


Every candidate accepted to CEU is to pay a general deposit in order to confirm their acceptance of the study offer. Candidates can accept their offer and pay the general deposit via the Applicant Portal.  Your place of study is only confirmed once the deposit payment has reached CEU.
For accepted candidates who have confirmed their place of study but do not enroll after all, the general deposit is non-refundable. For those who enroll, the deposit serves as a damage deposit for the length of study at CEU, and will be refunded shortly before departure as part of the leaving procedure, less any damage costs assessed or fees outstanding on the student's account. Visa letters cannot be issued after May 31, 2019.

Please note:
As required by the Hungarian immigration law, accepted candidates who are citizens of non-EU/EEA countries must pay any applicable fees (such as the enrollment and/or tuition fees) right after confirming their place of study and paying the general deposit, using the payment methods indicated in the Acceptance Offer
Upon receipt of the above-mentioned payments, these candidates will receive a visa letter ("Confirmation of Acceptance") along with the payment confirmation for the purpose of the visa application (see Step 3 below.)


Accepted candidates who are citizens of countries that are not part of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) need to apply for a long-term D type visa for study purposes at the Hungarian consulate of their country of residence. The CEU Admissions Office provides a "Confirmation of Acceptance" for visa purposes (and, if applicable, a payment confirmation) sent to the accepted candidates via DHL. Visa letters cannot be issued after May 31, 2019. Citizens of EU/EEA member states may travel to Hungary without a long-term study visa. However they need to obtain a registration card for the duration of the studies in Hungary. For more information please visit the relevant section of the CEU Online Orientation.


In order to be able to enroll and start their studies at CEU, accepted candidates must submit their academic documents to the CEU Admissions Office no later than August 15, 2019, via postal mail or in person (mailing address: CEU Admissions Office, Nador u. 9, 1051 Budapest, Hungary).
