Alumni Campaign Funds Unprecedented Number of Scholarships

October 30, 2012

The most recent CEU Alumni Campaign raised more than $41,200, enabling CEU to award 21 scholarships this academic year—the largest number in a single year since its inception. Every year since 2001, CEU has awarded the CEU Alumni Scholarship to outstanding students who have shown a commitment to community service and who have demonstrated their potential to become leaders at CEU and in their future careers. The program is funded exclusively by donations from CEU alumni and friends. A new video, produced by the Alumni Relations and Career Services Office, highlights the 2012-2013 scholarship winners and the causes that motivate them. This year’s cohort of recipients includes Malefiya Tesera Tamrat, who founded the Hawassa University's Law Student Association in Ethiopia, which provides free legal-aid service, and Inga Popovaite, a former volunteer who taught English to female prisoners recovering from drug addiction in Georgia.
