Alumni Campaign Funds Record Number of Scholarships

November 6, 2012

The CEU Alumni Campaign has raised more than $55,000 this year, enabling CEU to award 21 student scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year—the largest number of recipients since the scholarship’s inception. The scholarship is awarded to students with a demonstrated commitment to community service and leadership potential. The scholarship is funded exclusively by donations from CEU alumni and friends to the Alumni Campaign. A new video produced by the Alumni Relations and Career Services office highlights the 2012-2013 scholarship winners and the causes that motivate them. This year’s cohort includes Malefiya Tesera Tamrat, founder of Hawassa University's Law Student Association in Ethiopia, which provides free legal-aid service, and Inga Popovaite, a former volunteer who taught English to female prisoners recovering from drug addiction in Georgia.
