Simon Rippon has joined CEU as an assistant professor, teaching in both the Department of Philosophy and at the School of Public Policy, effective December 2012. Simon received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Harvard University and holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Theology from Oxford. His research incorporates practical ethics and “metaethics,” or the study of what moral discourse and practice is about in the abstract. Some of his other special interests include fairness in organ donation, the nature and moral significance of the concepts of health and disease, the so-called “normative question” of how people can have reasons to do things, and the nature of moral expertise.
