CEU hosted its first Sustainability Festival on Sept. 19, linking members of the community with local environmental groups. Over 100 visitors interacted with the organizations, which presented their specific contributions to building more environmentally and socially conscious communities in Hungary. For new arrivals, the festival provided an opportunity to learn about how and where they can contribute to building a greener Budapest during their time here. Samples of locally grown food were served and entertainment was provided by singer Nia Gaal. The TerraCycle organization demonstrated ways to repurpose trash into useful products and members of the Cyclomania bicycle collective helped cyclists repair and tune up their bikes. The festival also featured installation of the seven-bike pilot fleet of CEU’s new bicycle sharing program.
