NASDAQ OMX Educational Foundation Awards Grant to CEU Business School

CEU's Business School is the first institution throughout Central and Eastern Europe to receive a grant from the NASDAQ OMX Educational Foundation. The three-year grant will annually fund three MBA or Master's of Finance students who hail from countries with emerging economies.

Based on a competitive process, the scholarships will be awarded to high-achieving, accomplished students from emerging economies. Recipients must possess leadership potential and be likely to return to their home countries to enter and enhance the field of financial services, leveraging CEU Business School's 25-year legacy of transforming the Central and Eastern European region’s from a socialist to a market economy.

“We are delighted to partner with the NASDAQ OMX Educational Foundation to support the education of our future business leaders,” said Mel Horwitch, Dean of CEU Business School. “Already, approximately 80 percent of CEU Business School’s MBA graduates came from countries with transitioning or emerging economies, including Hungary, Romania, Russian Federation, Georgia, and India. With these additional scholarships, we can accept more students who otherwise might not have the opportunity to experience a quality business and finance education.”

“The NASDAQ OMX Education Foundation is proud to partner with CEU Business School to extend educational opportunities which empower emerging economies, including areas where NASDAQ OMX cultivates business relationships with our leading technology expertise,” said Joan Conley, Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary at The NASDAQ OMX Group. “It is our pleasure to support Central European University’s efforts to make business and finance curriculum a strategic priority in the education of our future business leaders.”

CEU Business School aims to make knowledge, acumen, and skills available to the widest number of qualified potential leaders regardless of financial circumstances. The three-year grant from the NASDAQ OMX Educational Foundation allows CEU Business School to make their superior, highly respected, and forward-looking MBA program financially available to all qualified candidates.

CEU Business School is the first institution in Central and Eastern Europe to offer an American MBA and provides managerial education to a large number of indivudials who will become seasoned leaders in top European firms. The School, which officially joined CEU in 2002, continues to offer a unique and powerful learning experience which cultivates the forward-thinking skills that are in high demand at global companies and financial institutions. A major aspect of CEU Business School’s overarching mission is to educate managers who are capable of developing and leading modern financial services hubs in emerging economies from Chongqing, China to Cape Town, South Africa.
