March 11, 2014

The Center for Teaching and Learning launched the CTL Program for Excellence in Teaching in Higher Education, designed for CEU doctoral students and alumni. Now in its pilot year, the program is All students who complete the series of seminars making up the program (normally within one or two academic years) and produce a comprehensive early-career teaching portfolio will receive a certificate of program completion. The program expects up to 10 students to complete the program in Academic Year 2014-15.

The program design, content, and core values are informed by relevant research on scholar-teachers' work on professional development. The courses are based on collaborative inquiry and often involve peer-teaching, observation, and experimentation. At a recent CTL roundtable, current participants expressed how useful the program has been to their overall professional development.
