Bosnia and Serbia Flood Relief Campaign Organized by CEU Students

On May 17 the Red Cross in Serbia and Bosnia published an appeal for help, and regional media published both updates about the flood crisis and also ways to help. Encouraged by the example of students in Bosnia and Serbia who were organizing help over social media, CEU students and Alumni from the region (Bosnia, Serbia, and Croatia) started a Facebook conversation saying "we should do something". Two days later, with the support of the Human RightS Initiative at CEU, the donations drive was ready to go. In the course of five days, the organizers collected nearly 420,000 HUF and around 20 boxes of in-kind donations (food, hygiene products, baby equipment, cleaning products, medicine). The monetary donations were paid to the Red Cross in Serbia, Bosnia, and Croatia, while the in-kind donations were transported to Serbia and Bosnia through the Serbian Orthodox Church in Budapest and the Bosnian Embassy.
