IRES Alumna Ostrauskaite Hosts Security Lecture in Bishkek

CEU alumna Rasa Ostrauskaite (IRES ’01 MA, ’07 PhD), deputy director of the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE) Conflict Prevention Centre in Vienna, held a lecture titled “The Role of the OSCE in Conflict Prevention and Management: New Challenges?” at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan March 3.

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is designed to promote and enhance the principles and values of the OSCE in the Central Asia. Ostrauskaite’s talk focused on the current crisis in Ukraine, particularly as a turning point in the OSCE’s conflict management activities.

Ostrauskaite has written extensively on peace and security issues, including a series of books co-authored with Michael Merlingen, including: European Union Peacebuilding and Policing: Governance and the European Security and Defence Policy and European Security and Defence Policy: An Implementation Perspective.
