CEU Trustee Attila Chikan, chairman of the Hungarian Association of Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management (HALPIM) and professor emeritus at Corvinus University, was named the first recipient of a lifetime achievement prize by the International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association (IPSERA).
Professor Chikan was recognized for his outstanding achievements in tutoring and research in the field of purchasing and supply management, according to a statement on the HALPIM website. His activities include the professional and operational supervision of a summer school for doctoral students held every year in Salzburg, Austria since 1997.
Professor Chikan served as Minister of Economy under the first Orban government, in 1998-99. He was rector of the Corvinus University of Budapest between 2000 and 2003.
Professor Chikan received the award at the annual IPSERA meeting, held March 31 in Amsterdam. He was elected to the CEU Board of Trustees in April 2013.
