Diana Urge-Vorsatz Elected Vice Chair of Working Group III of IPCC

http://nol.hu/tud-tech/magyar-szakerto-lett-az-ensz-klimatestulet-egyik-vezetoje-1569011 - Hungarian news portal nol.hu reports: Diana Urge-Vorsatz, professor at CEU’s Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy and director of the Center for Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Policy (3CSEP) has been elected vice chair of Working Group III of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the UN body tasked with assessing climate science.

Urge-Vorsatz was the top-ranking vice chair nominee from the Pan-European region, including Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union. At the full UN plenary vote, she preceded Carlo Carraro, president emeritus of Venice University, with a difference of 76 votes to 46. She was acknowledged for her contribution to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that shared the Nobel Peace Prize of 2007. She was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic in the Hungarian Parliament in March 2008.
