Philanthropy Awareness Day 2015, hosted by CEU's Alumni Relations and Career Services (ARCS) on November 13, prompted 198 CEU students, 61 staff, 9 alumni, 9 faculty and 3 friends to offer donations, and were rewarded with a piece of cake, also baked by members of the CEU community, and a CEU-branded water bottle, while supplies lasted. The most popular goodies were the Hungarian-Austrian chocolate-biscuit cake, the Mexican sponge cake, the carrot and pumpkin muffins, the monster cookies and the famous cottage cheese pancakes.
The proceeds of Philanthropy Awareness Day 2015 support:
- a project to feed the homeless until dedicated donations last, in collaboration with Menhely Alapitvany (Shelter Foundation) under the leadership of Head of the Admissions Office Zsuzsa Jaszberenyi.
- refugees, via Migration Aid, a project managed by SPP student Yahya Al-Abdullah. Food packages will be put together and taken to the border.
- the Alumni Scholarships that supported 24 students this academic year. This year's Alumni Scholarship recepients were serving up the cakes at the event.
ARCS started the tradition of Philanthropy Day at CEU three years ago to raise awareness of the value of philanthropic giving.
