MESPOM Student Carr-Wilson Co-authors Report on New Water Law in Canada

Savannah Carr-Wilson (MESPOM ‘17) has co-authored a report, entitled “Awash with Opportunity: Ensuring the sustainability of British Columbia’s new water law,” analyzing the potential of Canada’s new water law: the Water Sustainability Act. The report outlines best practices from around the world and offers clear recommendations for the regulation development of the law in five key areas: groundwater licensing, environmental flows, monitoring and reporting, water objectives, and planning and governance. In the report, Carr-Wilson calls for a new partnership approach between various stakeholders to water governance in British Columbia.
