As you heard from the Payroll Office earlier this week, every year taxpayers in Hungary have a special opportunity to designate 1% of their previous year’s paid taxes to an approved charity of their choosing. We encourage the CEU community to participate in this national philanthropic effort, and to support this, HRO makes available the attached documents in English and Hungarian as well as instructions on how to submit your individual 1% declarations. The full list of approved charities can be found here: http://nav.gov.hu/nav/szja1_1/regisztralt_2016. There are two deadlines to participate: Friday, March 18 for those whose taxes are prepared by CEU; and Friday, May 20 for those who wish to self-prepare their taxes.
We are grateful for the many contributions of time and talent that each of you make every day to CEU and to the broader community. We are increasing the University's focus on civic engagement and want to make it as easy as possible for each of us to meaningfully support causes of personal importance - 1% giving offers a chance to do this. CEU has also benefited from 1% contributions made by employees and friends of the University through the years. This year, as we mark our 25th anniversary, all funds raised through 1% designations will support CEU’s core mission and highest priorities. These include our campus renewal; expansion of CEU’s programs for Roma graduate training and education; our new Open Learning Initiative (OLIve) that provides free weekend classes for refugees; and strengthening CEU’s civic engagement initiatives.
If you know someone who may wish to support CEU in this way, please feel free to pass this message along. Each 1% declaration made to CEU this year celebrates the University at an important time in its history and supports major initiatives that will serve to strengthen this institution well into the future. Instructions on how to designate the 1% to CEU or to another approved organization are available at: www.ceu.edu/onepercent.
The Civic Engagement Office and Development Office will staff info tables during the afternoons of March 10 (Octagon) to answer questions and help prepare your declaration(s). Please contact Krisztina Moricz (firstname.lastname@example.org) in Development or the Payroll Team (email@example.com) in Human Resources with any questions.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in so many worthy causes across the community.
