CEU's programs related to politics and international studies were ranked 40th in the world according to the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) subject ranking, published March 22 (http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings-articles/world-university-rankings/qs-world-university-rankings-subject-2016-out-now).
Of the six subjects CEU was ranked in, political and international studies made the top 50 in the world. Philosophy and sociology maintained rankings in the top 100, and history also maintained its ranking in the top 150. In economics and econometrics CEU was ranked for the second year in a row, placing in the top 151-200.
This year six subjects were added to the list by QS with new rankings for anthropology, archaeology, mining engineering, nursing, performing arts and social policy. Impressively, in its first appearance in QS subject rankings, CEU in social policy and administration was ranked in the top 100.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject were created in response to a demand for more detail than provided by the company’s overall rankings, which are released in the fall each year. In the subject rankings, universities are ranked based on academic reputation, employer reputation, and research citations, with weightings tailored to each subject.
