Erasmus+ Program Opens Up to Ukrainian, Belorussian, Georgian Universities

Erasmus+, the EU's programme for education, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020, has opened up its doors for countries around the world for the first time. Erasmus-type credit mobility programs are now available in the framework of inter-institutional agreements, for all three groups: students, academic and administrative staff.

Following our previous attainment of funding for Erasmus exchanges with Israel, CEU successfully applied and received funding from the Hungarian National Agency for a total number of 19 incoming and 5 outgoing mobilities for lecturers, students, and administrative staff combined in Ukraine, Belarus, and Georgia. The mobilities can be carried out with institutions in the given country which have previously signed an Erasmus+ Inter-institutional Agreement with CEU. Preference is given to those partner institutions that CEU already has a working relationship with.

In Ukraine the list of institutions includes for the time being National University Of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukrainian Catholic University, and Donetsk National University. CEU is committed to support academia in the country, and help those in need at this time of turmoil. Cooperative moves have been on the table with Belarusian State University and Belarus State Economic University, and the Georgian partner institutions include Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and Ilia State University.

CEU professors will be encouraged to use the opportunity and travel to give guest lectures at partner institutions, whose students will be encouraged to attend CEU as visiting students. Moreover, departments will be encouraged to host guest lecturers from the three countries.

From Ukraine, Belarus, and Georgia combined, 8 international office staff colleagues will receive financing to attend a training at CEU. To maximize the outcomes and effectiveness in input, ACRO is planning to hold a ‘mini staff week’ in October or November 2016 for these new participants of the Erasmus+ program.

Calls for Application will be advertised by ACRO Erasmus Office later on. If interested in these new opportunities or in signing an Erasmus mobility agreement with any listed institution, send an email to
