Librado Orozco Zapata, who earned a Master of International Relations and European Studies at CEU in 2002, has been appointed Deputy Minister for Defense Policy in Peru.
Zapata is a career diplomat and ambassador to the Diplomatic Service of Peru. He studied Arts and Law at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. He holds a postgraduate degree in International Relations from the University of Oxford, and a master's in International Relations and European Studies from Central European University and New York State University. In addition, he holds a PhD in Contemporary History at the University of Szeged.
He served in the Permanent Mission of Peru to the United Nations in New York, having participated in the sessions of the Security Council. In the Ministry of Defense of Peru he has held the positions of Director of Multilateral Affairs and Director General of International Relations.
Similarly, he worked in the areas of Strategic Planning, Political Affairs, Peruvian Communities Abroad and the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He has also served in the embassies of Peru in the formerly Soviet Union, the Russian Federation, Hungary and Canada.
He also participated in important global forums related to security and defense, as the Institute of Higher Studies of National Defense (Paris, France); the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies Department of Defense. UU. the Ministry of Defense of Germany; and the National Defense University (Beijing, China).
