CEU Ranked Among World’s Top 350 Universities by Times Higher Education

CEU ranks among the world's top 350 universities, according to The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-2017, published September 21. CEU also ranks 8th in the world in terms of international outlook, and tops the list of Hungarian institutions in the rankings. This is the first time CEU has been included in the THE World University Rankings.

According to the Times, universities are judged across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. The ranking employs 13 performance indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons.

CEU is the only university in Hungary among the top 301-350, followed by Semmelweis University in the top 501-600 and Budapest University of Technology and Economics at 601-800.

When only Europe is considered, CEU ranks 147th - the only Hungarian university to make the top 200. Semmelweis University ranks 252nd and three other Hungarian universities, Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the University of Pecs and the University of Szeged were tied at 291.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-2017 list the 980 top universities in the world. The calculation of the rankings for 2016-2017 was audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
