Kate Coyer, director of the Civil Society and Technology Project at CEU's Center for Media, Data and Society (CMDS) in the School of Public Policy, was named a fellow at Harvard's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. During this academic year, Coyer will research the role of Internet companies in responding to violent extremism online and the impacts on privacy and freedom of expression. She will also continue her work supporting access to communication for refugees.
Coyer joins 27 others in this academic year's cohort.
“Our fellows bring unprecedentedly diverse backgrounds, along so many dimensions,” said Jonathan Zittrain, the co-founder of the Berkman Klein Center. “And each shares a commitment to seeing modern technology developed and applied in the public interest -- whose definition is itself thoughtfully debated.”
