Urge-Vorsatz Meets with Vietnamese Prime Minister as Part of IPCC Delegation

CEU’s Diana Urge-Vorsatz, professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy and director of the Center for Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Policy, was member of a 5-member delegation of UNEP’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that met Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on October 23. As its vice chair, Urge-Vorsatz represented Working Group III of IPCC on the meeting.

“Vietnam is extremely serious about climate change; the Vietnamese Panel on Climate Change (VPCC) has a similar role in the country to that of IPCC in a global context,” Urge-Vorsatz said. “The IPCC is not only a model for the Vietnamese panel, but it is the key source of authentic information on planning for a lower carbon development and a cleaner Vietnamese future,” she added.
