The Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives launched its first Teacher Training Program for Hungarian high school history teachers, entitled Scopes and Constraints in 20th Century Hungarian History, with accreditation for five years granted by the Hungarian Ministry of Education.
Using the rich collections of the Archives, the program offers tools for a perspectivist and critical exploration of 20th century events that generated radically different interpretations in the historical memory of Hungary and the various ethnic groups in the Carpathian Basin.
The course runs from February 11 to April 29, 2017 with 21 participants (history, social history and media teachers from high schools in Budapest and other cities). Classes are held on Saturdays at Blinken OSA. Instructors are historians Andras Mink and Krisztián Ungvary.
This program is part of Blinken OSA’s special Outreach Program launched in 2016 to engage and cooperate with K-12 teacher and student communities in Hungary.
