After considerable discussion with the Student Union leadership, University Senate Library Committee, Library Staff, IT Department, and with the support of the Rector, Provost and Dean of Students, the CEU Library is extending its hours on a trial basis to better serve library users. Many factors were considered including: specific requests, current library usage patterns, public transportation schedules in the late evening impacting travel for students and staff, and staffing requirements.
Library Hours from Sat, March 4 through mid-June (addition of 28 hours per month):
Mon, Tues, Wed: 8 a.m.-11 p.m. (1 more hour each day)
Thurs, Fri: 8 a.m.-10 p.m. (same as now)
Sat/Sun: 12 p.m.-8 p.m. (2 more hours each day)
The CEU Library staff wish to thank colleagues in other units whose support is also essential to keeping the Library open longer, including: Campus Services Group/Coat Check, IT Department/IT HelpDesk, Front Office/Reception, and Maintenance Services Group/ Building Security. The Library staff will gather data and evaluate gate counts at the end of term to see if there is sufficient use during the new hours to warrant these additions and to see if further adjustments should be made for next Academic Year.
