Caltech Offers Support

President Thomas F. Rosenbaum and Provost Edward M. Stolper of the prestigious California Institute of Technology (Caltech) offered their support of CEU in a letter written to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"CEU is a valued member of the international academic community and its presence in Hungary has added to the reputation of Hungarian academic life on the international stage. The government's proposal to alter CEU's statute of operations in Hungary would set a dangerous precedent for academic life in other countries. We respectfully urge the government to bear in mind the damage such legislation might do to Hungary's well-deserved international academic reputation and to its relationships and with its European partners and with the United States," Rosenbaum and Stopler wrote in the letter.
