On the one hand, we consider it crucial for education and universities to be independent of political will, on the other, we consider high scientific standards that CEU represents and shares examplary.
CEU patronizes CAS organisations of Hungary deliberately and disinterestedly by providing opportunity for our members to take courses, the opportinity to join internationally recognised English-language programmes without having to move overseas or pay fees. Many of us have taken part in these courses in previous years, improving their scientific knowledge and widening their range of vision.
We don't want a university of this high quality to cease. As social scientists, we can't find any reasons for how these actions on behalf of the government would serve the interests of Hungary.
