ERC grantees at CEU support the university

April 20, 2017

According to ERC statistics, CEU is one of the most successful institutions in terms of attracting ERC funding to Central and Eastern Europe. It is disheartening for us that the Hungarian government is about to destroy this exceptional success of a unique Hungarian university that is proud to bring international scientific excellence to Budapest with the generous support of the ERC. We urge you to show your support for ERC grantees at CEU by contacting the relevant Hungarian authorities and to join the CEU President and Rector Michael Ignatieff in convincing the Hungarian government to withdraw the new legislation. We suggest that a statement of support from the Scientific Council of ERC would exert strong pressure on the government to re-evaluate the expected consequences of the proposed changes to the Higher Education Act.
