Vote for CEU InnovationsLab For CES Innovation Award

August 10, 2017

The CEU InnovationsLab (iLab) has been selected as a national finalist in the 2017 CES Innovation Awards in the Best Accelerator and Incubator Category. CES Awards is the Central and Eastern European chapter of the Global Startup Awards, meant “to recognize and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit and startup ecosystems” in CEE. The winner will be selected by a jury and public vote. Those who would like to vote for CEU InnovationsLab can do so here until August 21.

CEU Innovations Lab is home to successful startups such as AbsoRice, founded and managed by Marton Olah and Tamas Peter Nagy, a CEU MBA alumnus. The company received the "Innovative Startup of the Month Award” from the Hungarian Ministry for National Economy in March 2017. Founded in 2012, the company develops, produces and distributes high-protein powders and bars that are gluten- and lactose-free and entirely vegan.

Last fall, Talk-A-Bot, another startup incubated in the CEU InnovationsLab, that was co-founded by Akos Deliaga and Gergely Kalydi (both CEU MBA alumni) was selected by Viber as an official “Preferred Enabling Partner” of Viber’s new Public Accounts chatbot platform. Talk-A-Bot is the only Eastern European partner of Viber, a platform that currently has over 800 million customers. Talk-A-Bot’s latest product is the Sziget Festival chatbot called David Viber. Visitors can get all the important information about the festival and converse with David.

Other companies in the CEU InnovationsLab include BrokerChooser, an online platform that matches retail investors to brokers and robo-advisers across Europe. Cashless.Space is developing a peer-to-peer mobile payment application that allows users to pay bills/tips via smartphone even in venues that don't accept bank cards. Say-Hello is an online global translation marketplace for translators, for agencies, and for everyday consumers. Be Insider is a fast growing start up which aims to shake up the world of tourism by providing individualized, local travel experiences. GlobalVet’s main objective is to combine veterinary knowledge with the latest technology. Offering smart and intuitive solutions for veterinary practices, they bring the future of veterinary medicine one step closer to both practitioners and pet owners. ShareKiwi is developing a peer-to-peer offline file sharing solution.

Absorice, Talk-A-Bot and BrokerChooser each have been featured in Forbes magazine in the last six months. Talk-A-Bot and BrokerChooser were listed among the “Top 20 most promising Fintech Start-Ups in Hungary” in Forbes in June 2017.
