Members of the United States Congress Visit CEU

Budapest, July 3, 2019—Led by Representative Steny Hoyer (House Majority Leader) and Senator Ben Cardin, a group of United States Congress persons met with representatives of Central European University (CEU) lead by CEU President and Rector Michael Ignatieff in his office.

Noting that CEU is pleased to meet with the delegation, Rector Ignatieff said: “For two years CEU has sought a solution that would allow us to remain as an American institution in Hungary, but with no result. We made it clear to the members of Congress how disappointed we were that the Orban government is driving a US institution out of Budapest.”
