Katalin Szende, professor at the Department of Medieval Studies, and Constantin Iordachi, professor at the Department of History were awarded the prestigious title of “egyetemi tanar” by the President of Hungary, Janos Ader. The title, which literally means “university professor,” indicates a high ranking within Hungarian higher education. The appointment is effective March 1, 2020.
Katalin Szende graduated in History, Archaeology and Latin philology (ELTE, Budapest). Her research concentrates on medieval towns in the Carpathian Basin and Central Europe, with particular regard to society, demography, literacy, everyday life, and topography.
Constantin Iordachi has contributed to a number of highly prestigious edited collections on the topic of citizenship as well as in the fields of comparative fascist studies and comparative history in general. He is the recipient of the 2019 CEU Award for Outstanding Research.
