Last night's terrorist attack in Vienna deeply shocked the entire CEU community.
Little over a year ago, CEU was welcomed with open arms by this city. Today we stand in solidarity with our new neighbors; we mourn with those who mourn.
We are relieved that while a few members of the CEU community were caught up in last night's police lockdown, no one was in direct danger. We've been monitoring and supporting our students through this: three professional psychologists at CEU's Student Counselling service are on standby to help students work through this experience.
Everything that CEU stands for—democratic values, the warm embrace of the other, listening and working through differences—was attacked last night. The experience has redoubled our commitment to this city, to its citizens and to the values we share.
