The newest episode of the Democracy in Question podcast, hosted by Central European University (CEU) President and Rector, Shalini Randeria, features guest Ruth Wodak, Emeritus Distinguished Professor at Lancaster University and visiting professor at CEU.
The episode, “Language and public discourse in the success of right-wing political movements”, released on September 29, continues the conversation about the rise of radical right-wing political movements in recent years across the world. During the conversation, Randeria speaks to Wodak about the nature of the linguistic and discursive repertoires of contemporary right-wing mobilizations in Europe. Together they explore the role of language and public, asking how this increasingly vitiated use of public discourse promotes the cause of a politics based on fear.
