CEU Community Elects New Senate

CEU held its first Senate elections since its relocation to Austria. Conducted between December 7-13, 2022 via electronic vote, the elections had a high voter turnout of 65%. The CEU Senate is comprised of Rector as ex-officio Chair, eight representatives of academic staff, one administrative staff member representative, and three student representatives. The student representatives were elected by the Student Union earlier this year. The Senate is one of the main academic decision-making bodies of CEU, charged with taking decisions on CEU degree programs, academic policies, and other academic matters. The elected Senators represent the interest of their respective constituencies: faculty, staff, and students. In line with the CEU Statutes, the mandate of the newly elected Senate is three years.
