The Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study (NeTIAS) elected unanimously at its annual meeting on April 26th 2018 in Budapest its new President Nadia Al-Bagdadi, director of IAS CEU and Professor at the Department of History at CEU. Last week IAS CEU hosted and co-organized the annual meeting of directors and representatives of some 21 European Institutes and the conference of EURIAS fellows.
CEU’s Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, in collaboration with the Budapest-based Collective for Critical Urban Research (CCUR), will host the Financialization of Housing in the Semi-periphery workshop on July 20-22 in Budapest.
On May 5 the CEU Team will once more join the Danune Regatta, a dragon boat race of university crews. Cheer for the students rowing for CEU!
At their quarterly meeting in March 2018, the CEU Board of Trustees voted unanimously to elect Margaret MacMillan as a CEU Trustee effective summer 2018, and Robert Prichard effective spring 2019. The Trustees also voted unanimously to name Matthew Nimetz Trustee Emeritus.
Ten students of the Department of Legal Studies’ Human Rights and Comparative Constitutional Law programs participated in the Vienna Human Rights Model United Nations (VHRM MUN) on April 11. MUN is a simulated session of the UN Human Rights Council, organized by the University of Vienna and the Academic Council on the United Nations System. MUN took place at the Vienna International Centre, the campus and building complex hosting the United Nations Office at Vienna.
