Living at the CEU Residence Center has been an incredible experience for three reasons: first, the view; second, the communal kitchen; and third, the fitness center. Let me tell you why.
My Environmental Sciences and Policy Department at CEU is one of the premiere research and teaching departments in its field in Europe, but CEU’s commitment to the environment is visible not just at the departmental level but as a whole university. As a signatory to the COPERNICUS University Charter for Sustainable Development, CEU has its own Sustainable Development Policy. The new green buildings are examples of this promise in action.
The project “Open Experience // Open Education” build off the notion of a collective and individual right to be represented by looking at two cases of educational segregation, one in Canada and the other one in Hungary.
“Oh my, that’s scandalous!” was my reaction when I first heard about the Vagina Monologues. “Vagina” is not a word used casually where I come from—in fact, it is frowned upon. My friend joked that her Mom would have boarded the first flight to Budapest to drag her back home if she were to use the word on her Facebook wall.
During Stalinist totalitarianism, among the Gulag labor forced camps there was a camp for women on the territory of former Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic called ALZHIR (1938-1953). This specific name, which means Akmola Camp for Wives of Traitors of Motherland (translated from Russian "Akmolinskii Lager Zhen Izmennikov Rodiny") was given by the female prisoners themselves. This camp was different from others, for it imprisoned women for only being wives, mothers and daughters of political oppositionists.
Generally speaking, a library is the only place that guarantees peace and quiet in our busy and loud world. On CEU's active campus, the new CEU Library does just that and more.

With the new semester in full swing, now is a good time to review all the different places to eat on campus. The new building in Nador 15 offers two different choices. The catering company, Marsbeli, recently opened a restaurant in the 2nd floor right outside the library with a view of the Daube down the street. If you want a full-fledged, delicious meal then this is your place to be.
