The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, initiated in 1991 by Rutgers University Center for Women’s Global Leadership Institute in Rutgers, New Jersey, USA, is an international annual event set up in the 16 days between November 25, the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, and December 10, Human Rights Day. Every year, this campaign rallies over 3,700 organizations in approximately 164 countries, including activists, government leaders, students, academia and the private sector to demand an end to gender-based violence.

Zsuzsanna Jaszberenyi, director of Admissions at CEU, started her campaign for homeless people in 2009, when Budapest shelters ran out of funds and couldn’t provide food for the homeless. “Families were encouraged to cook for people in need. After doing so for a while at home, I shared the call with the CEU community, and we repeat the drive every year,” Jaszberenyi says.

CEU staff, in cooperation with Menhely Alapitvany (Shelter Foundation), hosted a Charity Cookie Day on October 12 in the N11 courtyard, offering delicious homemade cookies for donation. All proceeds went to the CEU Homeless Project, which helps provide meals to 75 people in a Budapest homeless shelter.

Be part of CEU's Widening participation program, welcoming elementary school students to CEU.
The main goal of the program is to raise aspiration and awareness among students, coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, to the importance of education, with special focus on higher education, and to enhance social mobility through education.
The program is seeking volunteers for Friday, October 27 between 9am-12am (partial participation is also very welcome).

The first annual Thrift and Gift CEU Item Drive, organized by the Student Leadership and Service Office, CEU Civic Engagement Office and Sustainable CEU was held during the Welcome Afternoon on Friday, September 8, 2017. The event was intended to support incoming students by providing an opportunity to pick up useful household items donated by the CEU community. It also provided a great opportunity for the CEU community to meet and familiarize with the incoming students of other departments and schools.
