"One of the most attractive features of CEU is its openness. It is committed to the ideal of the open society, it is open to students coming from all around the world and it is open to new ideas and directions in science. It is not by accident that the first network science PhD program in Europe was launched at CEU and our department is worldwide the first having network science in its name. I am fascinated by the inspiring environment at this university.
"As I make my way to the Nador 15 building every morning, turning at the same corners and passing by a new line of coffee shops, I often recall what a thoroughly transformational academic year 2007/8 has been for me in a decade-long journey of thinking, critical reflection and fascination with the making of the ‘social.’ In that moment my steps – and I am certain that the whole street, too – light up with gratitude.
"Being at CEU is the best thing that has ever happened to me because its somewhere I can experience the different cultures of the world, and also share my own culture with the world.
Once I heard of a place where a single community can represent the rest of the world, I couldn't wait to be part of it. I feel at home at CEU and so will you. I am in love with my new home and identity that I’ve found at CEU.
"Most people, when asked what CEU means to them, will talk about experiencing diversity. Of course, this university is an extremely diverse community, but recently to me the similarities among CEU people have become more striking than the differences. We differ in life experience, age, gender, ethnicity and so many other things. But we also share a few basic values and attitudes that seem to matter more.
