Central European University is committed to maintaining a safe environment grounded in civility and respect for all its members.
A bias incident is an act of discrimination, harassment, intimidation, violence or criminal offense committed against any person, group or property that appears to be intentional and motivated by prejudice or bias. Such are usually associated with negative feelings and beliefs with respect to others’ race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, political affiliation, disability, veteran status, club affiliation or organizational membership.
Anyone may seek advice, information or counseling on matters related to bias incidents occurring inside or outside CEU premises without having to file a complaint. Persons who feel they are being harassed, or are uncertain as to whether what they are experiencing is harassment or an act of discrimination etc., and/or desire information as to their options are encouraged to talk with one of the University resource persons listed in the CEU Policy on Harassment. Please consult this policy if you face a case of harassment within CEU premises.
Please use our reporting form to report a bias incident occurring outside CEU premises. The purpose of this form is to inform CEU administration about the circumstances that our students from different backgrounds face in Vienna or Budapest. CEU may not be in a position to take legal or other action regarding a specific event. We will evaluate every incident reported and decide if further steps are appropriate.
