Central European University (CEU) invites applications for six new fully funded interdisciplinary Joint PhD Fellowships starting in the 2019/2020 academic year. Each PhD Fellowship entails joint supervision by expert faculty members from at least two CEU academic units, who are already engaged in ongoing research in the designated thematic areas, and a CEU Doctoral Scholarship.
The Joint PhD Fellowships are funded by the CEU Intellectual Themes Initiative and offered in the following thematic areas in 2019/2020 academic year:
- Populism, Nationalism and Authoritarianism: Movements and Regimes - A collaboration of three units: Department of History, Doctoral School of Political Science, International Relations and Public Policy and Nationalism Studies Program. Two Fellowships are available: one for PhD program in Political Science and one for PhD program in Comparative History.
- Social Mind Area Scholarships on Prosociality and Trust (SMASH PRO) - A collaboration between Department of Cognitive Science and Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology. Two Fellowships are available: one for PhD program in Cognitive Science and one for PhD program in Sociology and Social Anthropology.
- Inclusion and Exclusion in Context: The Invention of Humanity and Dehumanization – A collaboration between Department of Philosophy and Department of History. Two Fellowships available: one for PhD program in Philosophy and one for PhD in Comparative History.
Interested applicants are invited to apply to one of the listed PhD programs, clearly indicating in the application materials (personal statement/motivation letter) that they are applying for the Joint PhD Fellowship funded by Intellectual Themes Initiative in the chosen thematic area.
