The Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at Central European University invites applications for a junior Administrative Assistant position. The Department runs a one-year Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy (MESP), a two-year Master of Science in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (MESPOM) and a PhD program in Environmental Sciences and Policy. The successful candidate will have department-wide responsibilities with non-exclusive emphasis on MESPOM, which CEU implements in partnership with five other Universities and close to 20 Associate Partners and which is supported by the European Commission.
The Administrative Assistant will work primarily on CEU’s campus in Budapest and occasionally travel to CEU’s campus in Vienna for meetings. The contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.

Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide administrative assistance in the areas of student admission and recruitment, organization of the educational process and student support, as well as supporting and organising academic meetings. The Administrative Assistant will be reporting to the Head of Department.


  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of written and spoken German
  • Hungarian language skills are an advantage
  • Computer literacy, including thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Organisational skills and competences (time management, document and information management)
  • Bachelor’s degree

We offer a competitive junior level salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.
