The Alumni Relations Office at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an Alumni Fundraising Coordinator position.


The successful candidate will be an integral part of CEU’s Alumni Relations Office and will be responsible for the unit’s fundraising efforts. Under the supervision of the Head of Alumni Relations, the successful candidate will create, plan and implement both current and new initiatives to cultivate, solicit and steward prospective and existing alumni donors in line with CEU’s strategic goals.


Fundraising is one of the main pillars of alumni engagement at CEU. Over 3,500 alumni have so far supported the alumni campaign, raising more than $1.5 million. More info about the CEU Alumni Campaign is available here


Duties and Responsibilities

Alumni campaign

  • Plans and implements a strategy for the cultivation, solicitation and recognition of alumni donors;
  • Plans and implements annual alumni campaigns and works with the Head of Alumni Relations on setting clear goals and monetary targets;
  • Works closely with Head of Alumni Relations and Communications Officer on the campaign narrative and messaging;
  • Plans and implements special fundraising campaigns, including the Matching Gift Challenge and various department-specific campaigns;
  • Develops the major alumni donor prospects portfolio and cultivation plans in consultation with the Head of Alumni Relations.


Donor engagement, cultivation and recognition

  • Develops a strategy and plan for donor engagement, cultivation and recognition;
  • Plans and implements special cultivation and donor appreciation events including President’s Reception during the Alumni Reunion Weekend.


Records management & reporting

  • Oversees the Raiser's Edge alumni donor management system to process donations, runs reports and queries as advised by the Head of Alumni Relations;
  • Tracks special alumni donor event attendance, and updates and maintains records as necessary.


Cross unit collaboration and student engagement

  • Works closely with other relevant CEU units, including the Development Office, the Budget and Finance Office and academic departments;
  • Works closely with the Student Philanthropy Council on the design and implementation of student-focused programs including CEU Philanthropy Week and the Graduation Class Gift;
  • Plans and implements the annual student calling campaign with clear goals and monetary targets.


Qualifications & Skills


  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, campaign planning, and delivery; 
  • University degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Business, English, or related fields;
  • Proven project management skills, including event management;
  • A strategic approach to data analysis;
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, especially Excel;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to interact confidently with a variety of constituents and clearly convey information in writing and in person;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take on initiatives while working independently;
  • Ability to innovate and take responsibility for outcomes;
  • Commitment to respect and maintain the confidentiality of donor information.


Experience in the following areas is a plus:

  • CRM database management
  • Prospect research
  • Website management
  • Social media content creation and management
  • Experience working in higher education
