The Strategic Administrative Initiatives – Project Office (SAIPO) at Central European University (CEU), invites applications for a Business Analyst position in Budapest.

We are looking for a passionate Business Analyst to turn data into information and information into business decisions. Conducting full lifecycle data analysis including requirements, activities, and design will be one of the main responsibilities of our new team member. The Business Analyst will develop analysis and reporting capabilities.

Your future tasks will be:

  • Leading reviews of business processes and performing requirements analysis.
  • Identifying process improvement opportunities
  • Developing and implementing solutions
  • Staying up-to-date on modern process and IT solutions to automate and modernize systems
  • Conducting workshops, interviews, and presentations to share ideas and stimulate collaborative thinking
  • Documenting the results of the analysis, evaluations, interviews and workshops
  • Interpreting data and analyzing results using statistical, or other techniques
  • Identifying and specifying data requirements, making sure data and calculations are consistent with other reports, and technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable.
  • Effectively communicating the above to all stakeholders
  • Working closely with SAIPO team members, members of university management, supervisors and specialists from different areas
  • Providing leadership, training and guidance to junior staff
  • Playing a junior project manager role, by leading smaller initiatives, incl. objective formulation, requirements analysis, solution design, testing and training, user acceptance, go live coordination and post go live support phases
  • Monitoring deliverables development and ensure timely completion with desired quality
  • Taking a leading role in creating models and implementing reports and analytics to support operational decisions across different departments of the university
  • Collecting relevant information and providing status reports for management on all on-going projects
  • Preparing cost-benefit analysis, projecting cost forecasts and follow-up reports


About You

We are looking for a quick learner who is well organized and comfortable working with many projects. We are looking for someone with a self-starting positive attitude, ability to thrive in an autonomous environment and willingness to learn. The successful candidate will be expected to show resourcefulness, exhibit accountability, and understand the role well enough to work independently and demonstrate initiative.

Required skills and competences:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in any technical, economic or social fields
  • At least 2 years of experience in solution delivery projects, or business analysis
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
  • Excellent documentation and presentation skills
  • Competency in MS Office tools – expert level on Excel, advanced level on Word and Power Point
  • Experience in financial and cost-benefit analyses combined with understanding of key performance indicators
  • Ability to identify issues and plan out solutions, improvements where it is possible
  • Strong desire for  process improvements, projects, and daily operational tasks
  • Detail-orientated mindset and high-level of accuracy
  • Comfortable working in a highly international, diverse environment
  • Fluent in English and Hungarian – both spoken and written 


  • Degree in Business or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Experience with any ERP solutions (e.g.: SAP), Salesforce, Nexon or any kind of integrated CRM solution
  • Experience in effective project management
  • Working experience in an academic environment
  • Processes modeling preferred
