The Career Services Office at Central European University invites applications for this role. We seek a team player with knowledge of external partnership development and of international student advising in a career development context. The exact title (Manager / Officer / Coordinator) and compensation will be determined based on level of experience of the chosen candidate.

Duties and responsibilities:
CEU and the CEU Career Services Office
The CEU Career Services Office (CSO) plays a leading role in institutional efforts to ensure that the university's graduates are prepared to transform their CEU experience into meaningful professional engagement. The CSO works directly with students and alumni, offering guidance, support and information to help them develop and pursue personal visions for impact and success all over the world. The office also cultivates partnerships with current and potential employer partners in order to develop awareness of the value of a CEU education and to create opportunities for CEU students and alumni.
The team member will work closely with the Director of the Career Services Office and serve as an integral member of the Careers team, collaborating with Career Services Office team members on a range of initiatives, events and activities. All members of the CSO team fulfil duties in the areas of career education and career advising, each working with specific target student/alumni groups. Additionally, each team member takes responsibility for specific functional programs and/or projects.

External Partnership Outreach and Development
The main functional area of responsibility of the new team member will be External Partnership Outreach and Development. This will involve responsibilities and duties including:

  • Developing and implementing a strategy for geographically-global outreach to expand CEU's network of employer partners (primarily in the non-profit, private and multilateral sectors).
  • Leading efforts to encourage existing and potential partners to engage with and offer opportunities to CEU students and alumni, including employment, professional fellowships, traineeships and internships.
  • Conducting research on global employment trends and hiring practices and channeling the knowledge thus obtained into actions aligned with the strategy and goals of the Career Services Office.
  • Liaising with colleagues across the university to ensure that a coordinated and structured approach governs all CEU external partnership efforts towards potential employers of CEU students and alumni.
  • Creating marketing materials to support partnership outreach.
  • Ensuring proper and timely updates to and maintenance of the CSO employer database.

Career Education and Advising
In the areas of Career Education and Advising, the team member will serve as a Program Liaison, which involves responsibilities and duties including:

  • Conducting one-on-one career advising sessions with and facilitating career education sessions such as workshops and information sessions for CEU students and alumni in specific target groups. (Topics include but are not limited to self-assessment, career research, crafting CVs and application materials, interview preparation, salary negotiation and decision making.)
  • Organizing in-person and/or virtual career education and/or employer events of potential relevance to the career development of students and alumni in specific target groups.
  • Contributing diligently to efforts to track student engagement with the office.

The team member may be assigned additional functional programs or projects.

Qualifications and skills:


  • Experience building partnerships from within a non-profit or for-profit institution or from within an institution of higher education.
  • Advising experience, ideally student career advising in an international higher education context.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to organize and disseminate information, tailoring as necessary to diverse target audiences.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • A flexible, proactive and collaborative approach.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset combined with the ability to define and pursue clear, mission-aligned goals in a structured and sustainable manner.
  • Willingness to travel, if necessary, in connection with partnership outreach and/or student advising.
  • A university degree/s.
  • Near native-level fluency in English (written and oral).
  • IT familiarity: Office applications, web-editing software, high level of comfort using videoconference technology and other tools for conducting meetings and hosting virtual events.


  • Knowledge of career paths pursued by graduates of master's level programs in the social sciences and humanities both within and outside of Europe.
  • Teaching, coaching or training experience.
  • Experience with a database used in partnership management/business development, such as Raiser's Edge or Salesforce.

We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial contract is for 1 year with the possibility of renewal.
