The Social Mind Center (SMC) at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a part-time (30-hour/week) Center Coordinator. The position starts on July 1, 2019. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.

The Social Mind Center is an internationally leading research center with excellent facilities. Research at the Center aims at a new understanding of how the human mind enables and constrains social life. The Center hosts several large projects that are funded by the European Research Council (ERC). It is closely associated with the Department of Cognitive Science. The Center's offices and labs are located on the CEU campus in the Budapest's 5th district (Oktober 6 utca and Zrinyi utca). For more information, please visit http://socialmind.ceu.edu/.

The successful candidate's main responsibility will be to provide general administrative support for the researchers at the Social Mind Center. One of the main tasks will be overall grant management, including financial administration in close interaction with colleagues from the Academic Cooperation and Research Support Office (ACRO) using CEU's SAP system. Further tasks will include research support for faculty and research fellows, facilitating coordination between researchers and lab managers, support in implementing data protection and ethics requirements, support in hiring personnel in collaboration with the Human Resources Office, administration of procurement of research equipment, support with the organization of SOMIC events (public lectures, workshops, conferences, research weeks), maintaining the SOMIC website, assisting researchers and visitors with travel and accommodation arrangements, organizing office supply, administering payments and keeping general Center financial records.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, in any subject
  • Previous administrative experience
  • SAP knowledge is an advantage, but not a must
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Hungarian
  • High level of cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in a multi-national academic environment
  • Curiosity about basic psychological and social sciences research
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to engage in team work
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, webpage editing skills)
  • High motivation and dedication
  • High degree of reliability and professional attitude
